Teething symptoms can vary from child to child.  Some children can be totally unfazed with the experience and suffer very few issues with teaching if any. While on the other hand, some infants will show signs of mood swings, crying, and low-grade temperature, gum swelling, drooling, diaper rash, restlessness, to name just a few.

So, why is your child surfing with teething discomfort? Sometimes this is caused by pressure on the gum tissues of the mouth. "Periodontal Membrane" is the scientific name for this, but it's basically the part of your baby’s gums, which contain blood vessels and sensory nerve endings, which control pain and touch.

When your child is six months old they begin to develop teeth, what happens is these teeth start to push up through the sensitive gums causing swelling in the Childs gums.

A sure sign your child has begun teething is that they will seemed to drool more and they will begin to chew on things. As I said before for some babies teething is totally painless, other can experience some period’s irritability and other are just hell to live with and are just cranky for weeks. You'll notice that your child may have crying episodes and not sleep great. They may also experience disrupted eating patterns, which is normal as the teething is uncomfortable for your baby.

If this persists you may need to take a trip to your local doctor.

Although your child's gums may be swallowed, and tender this may cause their temperature to be higher than normal. Normally teething will not cause high fever you need to be aware of this and if you have any concerns consult your doctor.

Some quick tips

Make sure you have a cloth handy to wipe your baby's face as drool can cause rashes and this will help to prevent them.

Try to have something for your baby to chew on, make sure it's big enough so they have no change of chocking on it.

Rub you baby's gums, make sure to wash your hands before doing so.

Things not to do

Don't rub Whiskey on your baby's gums

Don’t tie a teething ring around your baby's neck

Don't put aspirin on your baby's gums
