our baby is teething and your nights are starting to feel longer and longer.  Teething can be one of the more difficult times to get through with your baby.  Hearing hours of crying and sometimes finding few items that are soothing to your baby, can make any parent tired and exhausted.  However, there may be some home remedies that can help you and help your baby.

There are household items that will be comforting to your baby because they have the scent of your home.  These items may actually work better than buying brand new store bought items.  Also, they are already in your house and can be ready at hand, making the time it takes to calm your baby quicker and making them happier faster.

Instead of buying teethers and teething toys from the store, try placing small toys in the freezer.  Toys that are their favorite and they like playing with will be cold and help make their sore gums feel better.  Having their favorite toy will comfort them and will not be strange or unusual to them like receiving a new teether would be.

You could also do this with small blankets.  If there are old receiving blankets that your baby has now outgrown or is no longer using.  Cut these into toddler sized squares and place in the freezer.  Again, these are familiar and will be comforting to your toddler.  Also, you can have plenty available so that as they warm up, you can always get your baby a new one.  Saving you plenty of time and keeping your baby happy.

Another remedy that can be made easily at home is mixing cinnamon and honey together.  Just a half a teaspoon of cinnamon and a couple of drops of honey is all that is needed.  The combination will help the aching gums, just rub it along the gums with your finger.  It also does not taste as bad as store bought teething gels.  Using cinnamon and honey is easier and can be made whenever necessary and given to your unhappy baby as soon as they need it.

One more way to help your little one is to place ice cubs in a small washcloth.  If you really have time, you can sew the washcloth into a small pouch that you can place the ice into and help your baby hold onto and suck on.  The ice is too cold to be placed directly on the mouth, but wrapped in a towel it will feel cool and soothing.  Making a couple these to always have on hand will keep you prepared for whenever your babies teething pain may act up.

Using these quick and simple remedies will take care of your baby quickly, especially during those late night wake ups and last minute needs for when your baby is teething.  Going through the terrible time of teething and your babies pain is never easy.  However, having these quick remedies on hand will make the time go faster and painlessly.
