Summer Infant Baby Monitor
Summary: As a new mom I know how important it is to ensure the safety of your baby, especially when they are sleeping.  With the reality of sudden infant death syndrome most parents are paranoid, like me, that they might miss a crucial sign that your infant is having difficulties.

You would think that my husband, being a computer professional, would be the expert on electronics, but it is actually me who buys every new gadget that comes on the market for infants.  I have also become a discriminating consumer when it comes to different products for infants.  I find it worth my while to do an internet comparison of products first, read any reviews and ensure any negative comments I can handle.

I had a few requirements when I was looking through the available monitors I was surprised at the technology behind them: including temperature monitoring, lullabies, and guaranteed clarity of signal.  The summer infant line of baby monitors definitely has a range of baby monitoring products that fits any need you think you might have.

My first baby monitor was a digital monitor by summer infant that offered me the ability to find different channels so I could listen to my child in bed without interference.  One of the big draw factors to this as my child monitor was the number of colors the electronics came in.  I had spent a lot of time figuring out what the overall look of the nursery was and had invested a lot of money in picking out a lot of details that would make my nursery perfect.  With all the monitoring systems available, having the ability to pick a color that matched the overall decor selection for my newborns room.  

Another great draw of the monitor was the backup battery pack available for the child unit.  I would not want to have one power source fail on that end as it may be some time before I would realize it.  Having the extra security of knowing there is a backup power source involved is very comforting.  My model also has a low battery indicator which is important so you know when you need to charge the units.  It also has two AC chargers included which adds to the convenience of the units.

I often have to travel through the house when my baby is asleep and the range on this monitor is great.  I can even nip outdoors quickly and not worry about missing any details.  I like to hear my son sleeping so I turn the volume up as high as it will go and hear everything quite clearly.  For times when I don’t want to be distracted I can turn down the volume and watch the sound lights and know that everything is ok.

I really enjoy my baby monitor, and recommend it as a high quality product to those I know having kids, or suggest it as a gift to people heading to a baby shower.
