When Does a Babys Hair Texture Change
|
|
If you are wondering when your baby's hair texture is going to change I think it's imperative that you first have an understanding of how things work beforehand. When you are pregnant and in your first trimester, then foetus starts to develop what's known as fuzz on your baby's scalp and eyebrows.
Something that I did not realize until recently is that at around four months mark lanugo begins to cover your baby's body. This is a tin soft hair that generally disappears around the 36-40 week mark, some babies that are born early are especially prone to have them here on their shoulders and ears. Over time this hair gradually disappears but it can remain for 4 to 5 months and especially noticeable if your child has dark hair.
The color of your baby's hair is actually determined by eumelanin. If your baby happens to have a small amount of eumelanin there's a good chance that they will have blonde hair. If they have more, it is generally said that your child will have darker hair. The amount of eumelanin is generally passed on by the parents from their genes. Is your child begins to get older and that they were born with a lighter hair the levels of eumelanin increase which then results that the hair starts to get darker. I have especially noticed this on to my children who was born with very light blonde hair and is now going darker. It's really only when you start to look at photographs from a younger age that you can actually notice the big change.
As I'm sure you are aware every child is different to the amount and color of hair that your baby is born which is completely different for every single one. Some babies are born with a full head of dark hair and you'll find that others can't be completely bald. However, all babies will have a soft downy type of light cooler chip cooling of hair on the head which begins to fall out within the first couple of months. At this stage new hair starts to grow which as I'm sure you will be aware of is much fuller than when they were born. As this hair starts to grow it will most likely be the color of your child's hair. But, this is not guaranteed and can vary as they get older but it is usually the case.
Will my newborn baby's hair change color?
During the first six months of your baby's life to texture of their hair can change fairly frequently. Your baby could be born with dark hair and often falls out and rose again it can be much like. I know this from personal experience with one of my own children who had dark hair and now has brown. At this hair falls out and starts to grow again it can be the case that their hair color will change.
It's a myth - some people believe that if you cooked a child's hair it'll grow back faster and much thicker this is a complete myth and you should not believe stories like this.
Is it really normal for my baby's hair to fall out?
Some new parents were very surprised that they find their baby who was born with a full head of hair starts to experience her loss or tinning. This is normal and is something that happens to many babies. Of course this varies from child to child and believe that the cause is relatively unknown. It does however grow back and you usually start to see hair growth between their 9 to 12 weeks mark (again this can vary).
When should my baby have his first hair cut?
You do not really have to worry too much about hair care in the first year of your baby's life. You really do not have to use too much shampoo on their hair every single day, you should only use this as needed. There are many products available in your local store that are suitable for babies and it is recommended that you use these instead of what you personally use.
There are really no set rules as to when he should get their first hair cut. Most babies will get this when they are about a year old. Some parents simply choose to do this themselves as there is no need to pay a visit to a hairdresser. At this stage of their lives the hair should be still very fine and very easy to put. If you do need to visit a hairdresser you can entertain your child while a professional tennis to your child's hair. Most of the time this will be something they are well used to doing and have no problems. Always remember to keep some of this hair from their first hair cut for your memory box.
My baby hates having her hair washed any advice?
The funny thing is that most babies dislike this. The real reason is that water gets into their eyes and you should really try getting them to lean backwards over a bowl of water or in any bath tub and washing their that way. It should be something they enjoy and you need to introduce this slowly over time.
- You do not need to wash your child's hair every single day. If they
dislike it that much they may not remember the last time you washed it.
- Try and avoid getting water into their eyes
- As they begin to get older you can let them wash their themselves by simply allowing them to pour water over their heads and making it a fun game
- Sometimes sharing a past which are toddler and allow them to wash your hair can be a good introduction and get them to understand that it is something that they can do easily
