Posted on December 12, 2009 by ElaineNo Comments

Dora-the-ExplorerThe Munchkin Dora the Explorer White Hot Safety SunBlock Shade
comes with a couple of features that I was not really expecting to become a sunblock shard. It just goes to show how little I know, anyway it cools that something is called a “White Hot Heat Alert” that reveals the word “Hot” when the inside of the car becomes too hot for your baby. This is something I have not personally come across before as I have had many of these sunblock shapes over the years and in fact still use them today.

Many little girls love Dora in fact my own little niece is a big Dora fan. So this will be an ideal way to present for your girl if they are Dora fans.

So What features Do You Get

Posted on December 10, 2009 by ElaineNo Comments

Cosco-Ambassador-Backless-BoosterIt comes to the stage where your child will just get too big for a regular baby car seat and you had to consider using a booster seat so that the seatbelt is positioned in a more comfortable position. This particular model from Cosco is suitable for a child that is weighing between 30 and 100 lbs.

We very are quite simple and not much to them as I’m sure you’re well aware, but they are still an important safety aspect that you need to have a view of your child in the back seat of a car. If you find that your child still tends to fall asleep this is something you should not consider you will need a booster seat with a back and headrests so that they are more comfortable if they do happen to fall asleep.

This model comes with a stripped-down compartment which holds a cup holder. This is ideal whether you are going on a short journey our long journey. It has a removable and washable cushioned pad for laundering.

It’s a safe booster seat that is sturdy but yet very light weight. It’s inexpensive, but gets the job done.

Selecting a Car Seat

Posted on August 2, 2008 by ElaineNo Comments

It’s hard to believe there was ever a time that kids didn’t ride in car seats and yet it wasn’t that long ago that the whole concept was unheard of. Babies used to come home from the hospital in their mother’s arms, and kids bounced around the back seat without a care in the world. It is a wonder how any of them survived to adulthood!

So, today, parents have a myriad of choices when it comes to car seats for their kids. One brand is much like any other. So, instead of doing comparisons, let us look at the features you will want to consider when buying a car seat.

Newborns

First, there are the seats for newborns. In fact, many hospitals now require you to have a car seat before you can take your baby home. With newborns, they are so small and so flaccid (their muscles having yet to strengthen and tone), you might want to consider getting a car seat that reclines down into a car bed. Also, whether seat or bed, newborns are unable to hold their heads up. There are foam / cloth “collars” you can buy (usually at the same place you get the car seat) that will fit around your newborn’s head and keep it from flopping from side to side. Another key point with newborns is to use a rear-facing car seat. It is safer for them, supports their tiny bodies, and there is less chance of their head flopping forward if the car comes to a sudden stop.
