We have added a number of new articles in our article section

Lactation without pregnancy
If you are not sure what lactation is it is basically the process or milk is produced in your breasts in order to prepare them to feed your baby. The funny thing is most people think you had to have given birth recently in order for this process to a. Many women assume that this is the case and believe it or not lactation is not uncommon when a pregnancy as you may think.

Crochet Baby Blankets for Beginners
I’m sure you are fully aware that crochet has been around for a long time and the art of doing it has been passed through many generations of families. My own grandmother was a master at crochet and she passed this on to all of your daughters and tell them how to do sock, caps, sweaters, shoes, and blankets. All of the different patterns she passed on to her children to this day still make gifts for many occasions.
How To Lay Babies in a Crib
The overwhelming advice from everybody nowadays is to make sure that your baby sleeps on their back. The “Back To Sleep” campaign recommends that you should place your healthy child on their back when they are sleeping this is to reduce the risks of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and also a known cause “Crib Death”.
When Can Babies Use Blanket When Sleeping
It is recommended that you do not put blankets in your baby’s crib until they are at least 12 months old. The main reason for this is because once they reached this age they are able to move more freely so give a blanket does happen to go over their face they can move it away without any problems. Many parents have concerns with a newborn baby about Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and research that has been done by the American Academy of Pediatrics shows that many babies suffocate and are found on their stomach with their faces covered with a pillow or blanket. This is because they are younger than 12 months old in her own able to remove anything that may go over their face. Once they are over 12 months the risks of SIDS are drastically reduced.

When Does a Babys Hair Texture Change
If you are wondering when your baby’s hair texture is going to change I think it’s imperative that you first have an understanding of how things work beforehand. When you are pregnant and in your first trimester, then foetus starts to develop what’s known as fuzz on your baby’s scalp and eyebrows.

When Can Babies Start Drinking Juice
This is a question that many new parents ask all the time and the simple answer is that you should not give a baby who is younger then six months old juice. This is a recommendation from the American Academy of Pediatrics. Another recommendation that they suggest is that you shouldn’t only give juice in a cup and you should never give juice in a bottle.

New Design and new ideas for 1st-babies.com

Posted on December 22, 2009 by ElaineNo Comments

We have been running this website for about four years now and some of our regular readers may have noticed that we started to work on a little bit of a redesign. The idea behind redesigning is to start introducing more articles and reviews for a regular readers. Over the course of the four years that this website has been running it has undergone many changes and we hope that you will enjoy the new design as it falls into place over the next few days.

We decided to start working on this now because a lot of other regular readers will be starting to celebrate the holiday season. It’s a fantastic time of year and especially fantastic time if you have good news about expecting a child or you are celebrating your first Christmas with your new baby.

To be honest we have probably neglected to blog section of this website for a number of months. But, you may have noticed that we have started to review more products to try and help our regular readers can make good decisions on any products that they may be considering purchasing. Our plan for 2010 is to make sure that we review and give products to give unbiased advice to many of our readers. With this hopefully we will see more of a community feel of the website.

I think it’s also time that we started to integrate some of the web2.0 and social media websites into the daily usage of the site. We have already started with Twitter and hopefully after the holiday season will start to add Facebook and start to integrate more and chats with many more users online. This will be a very exciting time for us here at 1st-babies.com.

New Writers

We are always on the lookout for new writers and the plan also next year his sister to introduce a couple of regular writers to update articles of time. I really think it’s key to find people that have an interest in the subject and are passionate about what they do when they write. We have used some writers in the past that simply just wanted to get paid, not necessarily interested in the subject they were writing.

I really think with such a subject as babies and the amount of different areas we cover on this website it’s important that you should be passionate about what you do. It’s important that this passion should also be expressed in writing and not just limit yourself to what you know without doing any research. I suppose this is a problem for many websites and many are still adjusting to churn out article after article that may not make much sense.

New Reviews

There are many different products that will start to review to try and help parents make decisions and to point them in the right direction for getting the best value for money. If there is one thing I absolutely hate seeing people being ripped off. Internet gives us the opportunity to shop around and check pricing very very quickly and as your humble reviewer this will definitely be time to I will use to try and find the best value or our readers.

As you may already know it is here on the blog we have done a quick redesign compared to what it looked like a few weeks ago. Hopefully this new design will help us show you the essential baby products that you will need and also hopefully we will show in some fun stuff that most of the time will be of no use to you but may add a bit of fun into shopping.

So What will we be reviewing

That’s a good question, as you can see already on the new design blog we have started to review things like baby nursery furniture, baby strollers, safety items around the home and I’m sure many other products that are essential as a baby gets older and also essential for your babies comfort and needs.

It’s amazing the amount of products are actually available out there, and sometimes flabbergasted when I go to the likes of Amazon and see that they have over 300,000 products listed for babies. That’s just crazy, do you really need all this stuff? After having two children are not really sure. You do however, need the basic things so you can go around your daily life being assured that your baby is strapped into the stroller correctly that it has all the safety features in this house could support another necessary backup in case you have any issues. You also need to make sure you have a proper baby crib, which again should because built for comfort and have safety in mind.

Unless already there are so many products available and it’s really just a case of making sure you have all the necessities that you’ll need for your baby. Everything else may not be a necessity but may add a lot of value to you and your family.

What Next

I personally have come through many baby products with my children some of these I used every single day and some of these never got used what so ever. I’m sure just a ring true with many parents and will also be something you will become more aware of if you’re on the new parent. As I said already once you have all the essentials, as all of you ever really need to get true from day-to-day and month-to-month.

2010 and Beyond

January should really see the beginning of the new 1st-babies.com as we hope to have the new design ready and will start to regularly feature product reviews and add lots of content to the website. I really want to thank the many visitors that come here on a daily basis and take the time to read some of our articles. We really hope that you find them useful and helpful at the same time.

Sometimes we get feedback from expecting mothers who appreciate some of the work that we have put into the research of these articles. I must stress that if you are ever in doubt you should always contact a professional or a physician to advise you on the proper needs and health care of your baby. The same rings true if you are looking at products, we do take their time to review products and read what other consumers have to say. But, you also need to validate that these reviews are correct and pricing and specifications that we list here are actually correct him and resellers website. Human error can happen, prices can change in the course specifications can you change to. Just make sure that you are 100% happy with the details before making any purchases from any of the products that we take the time to review here on f1st-babies.com

All that is left for me to say is we wish all my readers a Happy Christmas and a prosperous new year and we look forward to reviewing products and writing articles to help support our readers in 2010.

Best Wishes

Elaine

Hazards to Children in the Home

Posted on August 2, 2008 by ElaineNo Comments

In the average family home there are many precautions we all need to take when our children are small.  They are curious and want to be into everything and taste, feel and experience it, especially once they are mobile and crawling.  Then everything is a target to be mauled, chewed, and pulled apart.

Almost Mobile

Before your baby can get around, you need to make your home as hazard free as you can.  Get down and lie on the floor and really look from a baby’s eye view.  It will amaze you all the things you will see that you didn’t before.   The electrical plugs, a marble that rolled under the desk and you did not see it; little toys that belong to the three year old your sister has that were forgotten under the furniture.  You didn’t see these things before but rest assured your newly mobile explorer will find them and they will have them in their mouth and could possibly choke on them.  Look out for the electrical cords that could be pulled and lamps brought over or for the empty sockets just waiting to zap little fingers.
