Sketch a template on a piece of paper. Start by drawing a slender oval shape pointed at each end. Shade a bit on both sides and then draw two circles in the paw and draw a short spiral coming off of both ends. Ok, admit it. You have just drawn it on an old envelope. Keep trying until it looks like peas in a pod.
I can’t draw at all but I was able to come up with an acceptable pea pod. When my niece had her second set of twins I made her shower invitations with a pea pod design on a light brown background. The invitation read:

The whole shower was based on the pea pod theme. We made pea pod place card holders but ordered items such as tableware. My sister and I made some pea pod soaps as favors.
Why not go on line and purchase invitations for one, two or three babies? You can also order a variety of favors, games and even a gift set including a blanket, bib and booties. You can also order pea pod gift tags.
You can get pea pods shower invitations on line for between $1.49 to $1.59 per personalized invitation. Which is not a bad price at all, however you can make your own invitations for much less than having them printed and shipped to you.
Check on line and down load some pea pod free clip art. That way you can print your own invitations on your ink jet color printer or color laser printer, what fun to do. You don’t have to write a poem or compose a message, all that you need is the basic information.

Make your invitations as simple as you’d like or as elaborate as you can. Just remember it is hard to add elegance to a two peas in a pod invitation or shower. Replace the elegance with fun.
When I first saw pea pod invitations and decorations all I could do was laugh. It is a great theme for mom carrying multiples. We have seen pea pod invitations for a single baby, twins and triplets.
If by some twist of fate your guest of honor is carrying four or more babies, you will have little choice but to make the invitations yourself. However, this is very rare, so I wouldn’t worry about that . It is extremely unlikely to happen without fertility drugs.
If you know the sex of the babies, you can alter the invitations. For instance if they are both girls, you could add tiny pink bows on top of the peas, or at either end of the pods. Two boys, draw baseball caps on each pea and if it is one of each, one gets the cap and the other a bow.
This is one of the invitation and shower themes that you can have fun with. Have a can of peas as the prize for one of the games played at the shower or better yet some peas still in the pod if you can find them. How funny would that be? You could buy a bag of dried peas and count the peas as you put them in a jar. Have each guest guess how many peas are in the jar and write their name and the number on a piece of paper. Whoever is closest without going over wins. The prize? The jar of peas! Make sure you have the number written down so that you know for sure who won.
If you have made to pea pod invitations yourself, take one to the bakery and ask the cake artist to copy the invitation for the top of the cake. That would be a really cool cake or you could laminate an invitation and then just put it on the top of the cake you made. You could also put an invitation on top of a two peas in a pod diaper cake.
You can have a lot of fun with the pea pod shower invitations and shower activities. We found several commercial pod invitations for from one to three babies at about $1.50 - $1.60 each. Not bad if you don’t have the time to make your own. Remember all you have to do is design one card and your computer will do the rest. If the design is one you have created yourself you can scan it and load to your desk top and then print out the number of copies you need or take your design and cardstock to a printer or copy store and you will have your “two peas in a pod” baby shower invitations in an hour or so.
