Of course you can go with the standard floral bouquet but if you want something different we have some great ideas for baby shower centerpieces. One of the best I’ve seen is a diaper cake which can be made either from cloth or disposable diapers. It takes fifty or more diapers. It can be a bit pricey but the results are great and you have an additional useful gift for the new mom. You can trim these cakes with ribbons and artificial or real flowers.
Another useful centerpiece idea is to make a bouquet of baby sock roses. Put a dozen in a vase with real or artificial greenery. You might want to try making a bunch of baby washcloth lollipops. You could cut the top off of a large Styrofoam ball and stick the lollipops into it. Place in a pretty bowl and cover the Styrofoam with Easter grass. The lollipops could be given out to the guests as shower favors. Everyone will be amazed by your creativity. The directions for the diaper cake, sock roses and lollipops can be found on the internet. Just type the item you want to make, into your search engine.
If the parents have said they are going to use a particular theme or color scheme, you will want to coordinate your centerpiece, invitations and the other decorations with that plan.
Balloons that have weights attached can make a colorful and relatively inexpensive centerpiece. Since floral arrangements can be costly, you may want to go to your local supermarket and buy some flowering plants to use. Tie ribbons that go with your plan around each plant. You can generally get several plants for the price of one arrangement from a florist.
A fairly new trend in centerpieces are edible bouquets made with fruit such as melons, strawberries, cheeses and even some candy bars. You can also purchase or make beautiful cookie bouquets. Edible bouquets can be quite beautiful and delicious whether you have fruits and cheese, cookies or veggies, this is a unique idea for a shower.
Why not get a foam cone and push lollipops into it? If you like you can take small pieces of colored foil or even crepe paper and use a knife to push it into the foam to fill the spaces between the lollipops. Place a small stuffed animal on top. You may want to put some wide ribbon around the bottom to keep the foam from showing.
You could purchase a cupcake stand and either use cupcakes or place battery operated tea lights on the platform. It would be really cool if you could get them in a variety of colors.
Try to locate a basket shaped like a carriage or bassinette and fill it with miniature roses and baby’s breath and some greenery or ferns.
If this shower you are planning is to welcome a friend’s baby boy, get a large toy dump truck and fill with baby items like a hair brush, rattles, socks, wash cloths, toiletries, socks, booties and undershirts, etc.
Have each guest write a child care tip on an index card (even if they have no kids) and sign it. Put all of the cards in a pretty basket adorned with ribbons. What a cool centerpiece! Of course a bouquet real flowers is always acceptable.
You could put a baby bath basin on the table and fill it with wash cloths, baby soap and other small baby items, toys, toiletries, socks, hooded towels, etc.
Find a large basket and decorate it with ribbons to match the shower colors. Fill it with baby toys, toiletries, diapers, socks, etc. This is also a gift that will be greatly appreciated.
Display baby pictures of the soon to be parents as a centerpiece on the main table. Scatter some baby toys and toiletries around the pictures.
Your centerpiece can be as simple as some garden flowers in a vase or as elaborate as an arrangement of potted orchids, depending on your budget. Wrap some empty boxes with cute baby wrapping paper and arrange them in an attractive pile. Get some tea lights either wax or battery operated. Imagine how pretty that would look.
If you have purchased or made a unique baby shower cake, say shaped like a baby buggy or a bootie or a character cake, let the cake be the centerpiece.
Get a large wicker laundry basket and fill it with baby friendly laundry detergent, fabric softener, cute hangers, dryer sheets, and a special detergent for hand washing delicate items.
As you can see, a centerpiece for a baby shower does not have to be a traditional floral bouquet or food display. It can be anything that fits on the table and pertains to the baby and or his parents.
We hope that these suggestions will help you to come up with some unusual and attractive centerpiece ideas for baby shower.
