When shopping for boy shower invitations avoid those that are almost exact copies of baby girl invitations except for the color where blue replaces pink and many have text that is unisex.
If you look around you can find invitations that have cars, planes, sports images, etc. Before you even open the card, the invitation screams BOY.
A web search for boy shower invitations will reveal dozens of web sites that have loads of invitations you can choose from.
Is daddy a fireman, or is mom a police officer? Look for invitations that highlight either of these themes. Spiderman, Power Rangers, “Cars”, western, Star Wars, football, baseball, basketball, the list goes on and on.
My cousin drives and eighteen wheeler and is on the road for weeks at a time. When we had the shower for his wife, we took a picture of his rig and scanned it. We made invitations that had the picture and wrote:
Lori and Steve
Are trucking for joy
They are expecting
A new baby boy
Come help them celebrate
At a couples shower
On day, date, time
Location, street address
City, state, zip code
Lori and Steve are registered
At Babies R’ Us
A western theme shower is one of the most popular shower themes for parents who are having boys. They are also used for girl but not as frequently. A western couples shower is cool. The guys can wear jeans and tees. Have the men man the barbecue grill, burgers and hot dogs are all you need and of course a cake.
Create your own western invitations. Down load a cowboy and cowgirl clip art piece for your card and use the wording that suits your needs. You could use the same image if the couple is expecting twins.
You might want to consider having a Thomas the Tank Engine shower. The invitations, decorations and tableware are all readily available. You could get commercial Thomas invitations or make your own. If you will be making them yourself you could write something like this:
All Aboard
Enjoy the ride
Soon Sally will have
A new baby boy at her side

For the shower purchase or borrow a wagon and place it next to where mom sill sit to open presents. Let the guests stack the presents in and around the wagon. You could adorn the wagon with blue bows.
Airplanes, boats, jungle theme, sports, trucks, trains and autos are all possible theme ideas for a boy baby shower and all of them can be broken down into sub themes, for instance, race cars, Corvettes, Hummer, etc. So you have an almost endless source of boy baby shower invitation possibilities.
Most people will choose their shower theme and then hunt down invitations that will enhance that theme. However sometimes a particular invitation catches you eye and you wind up building the theme around that invitation.
I did that when I was looking for ideas for a twin shower and happened upon an invitation and party supplies for a two peas in a pod shower. This theme is suitable for twin boys, girls or one of each. It is really a fun theme to work with.
You will want to avoid invitations that are lacey or have a lot of pink in them if you are hosting a shower for a parent who is expecting a boy.
You could use pastel yellow, blue or green in your decorations and invitations, but you will want at least one vibrant color to give the invitations and decorations a more masculine feel. Blue and yellow work well together.
If dad is a sports fan do the invitations in colors worn by his favorite football or basketball teams. Maybe you could make a football, basketball or baseball card. Draw the shape on a folded card and make sure the fold is the outside edge of your invitation and then write the shower information on the inside. The dads will love it and everyone will be amazed at your ingenuity.
You can buy invitations like that in stores and on line, but not only will you save money but everyone will appreciate the time and effort you put into them.
Did you know you can get cake pans in the shape of sports balls from the Wilton company?
Baby shower invitations can be pricey unless you want to get generic ones that can be used for either sex. Many of them just say “Baby Shower” on the outside and inside it tells you who, when, where and RSVP.
That is why we like to make our own invitations. You can use clip art or a photo of your own and create the wording that is best for your shower. Or you can go to a site that allows you to download free printable invitations and some of them are quite attractive, both the ones for girls and boys. Check them out. Enter “free printable baby shower invitations” and again you can easily create your own boy baby shower invitations on your PC and printer.
