High chairs are not just for mealtime anymoreLike almost any other kinds of baby furniture, high chairs have evolved into multifunctional, multi-tasking, mealtime and play time chairs.A newborn won’t be ready for a high chair just yet. When your child can sit up with support he will be ready to sit in a high chair to be fed or feed himself. The complexity of some of today’s high chairs lies not in their use but in their level of functioning. There are some highchairs for young infants that recline for comfortable feeding but also turn into a bassinet. Many highchairs now have the capability to convert from the typical chair to a toddler chair without tray that can be brought to the dinner table at mealtime as almost any other chair can be. Some have adjustable seat heights to accommodate your growing child. Also some models come with two trays, A parent helper tray has insets for plates, cups and food; it is easily removed to become a flat tray where baby can play. Attach toys with string so they are not constantly falling on the floor and have to be cleaned. There are table chairs that attach by vices and/or suction grips to a standard dinner table, allowing baby to be “a big kid” during mealtime.A word of caution here though. Be sure it securely fastened to the table and that your baby is under the maximum recommended weight to prevent falls or injury to your child.
