crib bedding

Does your crib bedding fit your mattress

Crib bedding purchases like any other purchase for your baby should be carefully made.  You must keep in mind the type of crib you have (or will get) and the size of the mattress.  This is not just for comfort; its also for the safety of your baby.  Ill fitting sheets can slip and your baby can get entangled in them, risking injury. Bedding comes in all kinds of colors, designs (including plaid), fabrics, and price ranges.  There is even designer bedding. Bear in mind that you will likely receive crib bedding as gifts.  Can you ever have to many? Not in my opinion!

Another word of caution about crib bedding and putting your little one to bed.  It is recommended that you not cover your baby with a blanket but rather put him to bed in a sleeper.  If you have to cover him, tuck the blanket in snugly around the foot of the mattress and bring the blanket no higher than his chest.  This is to prevent your baby from getting entangled.

Bumpers are another piece of bedding that is often overlooked as far as safety goes.  Install them using all fasteners and place as close to the top of the mattress as possible and check for gaps.  Make sure the bumpers are as snug as possible to prevent your baby from slipping between them and the mattress and getting hurt.  While you must consider safety for your crib bedding enjoy decorating your babys room.
