Do Gerry baby products offer my baby safety
Gerry baby products include such items as Snugli baby carriers, backpack style carriers and nursery monitors. Soft carriers and splash sheets are also products by Gerry. Safety is a concern with any baby product and this is no less true for Gerry baby products. Gerry baby products have over the years posted recalls on their projects that would call into question the safety of some of the products. Nursery monitors have been seen with smoke and in rare cases flames shooting out of the back of the monitors. Splash seats have lost suction cups and posed a risk of injury in babies. As always, appropriate supervision is the best safety measure you can take. The backpack style carriers had wide leg openings and a young baby if shifted to one side or the other could slip through the hole and fall to the ground. Gerry did offer repair kits that made the holes smaller and the carriers safer. A natural crib with a Kolcraft mattress has a design in the head and foot boards that is curved at the ends creating a space where the baby’s head could get caught and cause strangulation. An important note is that Gerry baby products did make the recalls and an effort to repair the issues that occurred. With Gerry baby products, as with any product, it is a good idea to check whether the product has had recalls and if the issues creating the recalls in the first place have been resolved. The Consumer Product Safety Commission list recalls. You can write to them, call them, or visit their website (www.cpsc.gov) and do a search for your product.
