Child car seats

Child car seats give your child a comfortable ride

Child car seats are required by law in most states for children who are approximately 4 years of age.  It is further recommend that children over four be restrained in a car seat or booster car seat. The reason for this is the fact that  seatbelts for adults do not fit a child and in an accident could cause serious injury to your child.  A child car seat is also meant to provide your child with the most comfortable ride possible.

The installation of child car seats must be done properly for the maximum protection of your child.  5-point harnesses allows for a more snug fit for your child. Some seats have padded head rests and infant head cushions that surround your child heads to prevent it from rolling around.  Other car seats have “wings” that can offer your child protection in side impact collisions.   Many seats are well padded making your child comfortable especially on a long ride.

There are all types of child car seats. All have similar features so it might be beneficial for you to check out different brands and check the Consumer’s Guide to see which ones have the best safety record.  There are infant car seats and for young infants it is to be placed facing the rear of the vehicle and preferably in the center position.  your older child can use a regular car seat and booster seats much later. Help your baby to be comfortable and safe.
