Simmons baby crib

Be sure that your Simmons baby crib was not involved in a recall

Simmons baby cribs are quality cribs that are, in general, safe. There has only been one major recall that has involved Simmons baby cribs, and Simmons responded quickly to the problem. But, unknowing parents may still be buying these recalled cribs used.

Most parents know not to buy a very old Simmons baby crib, or any very old crib for that matter. Older cribs may have been painted with lead paint. The slats may be too wide, and your baby could get trapped. But 68,600 Simmons baby cribs sold between 1998 and 2000 have been recalled because of 800 reports of brackets hooks breaking. This caused only very minor injury. But as a safety measure, Simmons recalled all of the cribs.

How do you know if your recently purchased used Simmons baby crib was involved in the recall? Contact Simmons either by phone or by visiting their corporate website. You can also check with the Consumer Products Safety Commission. Your recalled crib may have been repaired, but you won’t know this unless you ask the person you bought it from. If this isn’t possible, get a replacement bracket kit from Simmons just in case. Better safe than sorry.
