Which double baby stroller do you need side-by-side or tandem

Whether you are expected twins or you have an infant and a toddler, you have no doubt looked at double baby strollers. This is almost a necessity for twins, and very handy for two little ones of different ages. A single stroller would allow you to push the baby, but your toddler would have to walk. For long distances and for safety, a double baby stroller is a parent’s best friend. There are two major types of double baby strollers: tandem and side-by-side. Which one should you get?

A tandem double baby stroller seats the children or infants one behind the other. Tandems maneuver well and can fold to a size easy to stash in a trunk. This option is best for an infant and toddler. The toddler has extra leg room in the front and the baby can often recline fully in the back. If you use the stroller while shopping, it's thin enough to fit through aisles, unlike the side-by-side stroller.

The side-by-side double stroller is perfect for twins. Often, both seats recline fully so both babies can be in the stroller from birth. It is also more difficult to steer two children of different weights in a side-by-side stroller. Small aisles are huge obstacles for side-by-side stroller, but for walks outside, the side-by-side can maneuver more easily over curbs and bumps than the tandem stroller.

Assess your needs and pick the double stroller that is right for you.
