Shopping at a baby furniture store gives you a lot of selection for a price

Baby furniture stores are stocked full with baby furniture, baby bedding, baby toys and often baby "extras" like small bathtubs. You’ll also notice that a department store does not have the same variety of choices.

Furniture stores usually markup their furniture around 500%. If the crib is $500, the store paid $100 for it. If you get it on a half off sale, the store is still making $150 on the crib. If you do choose to buy from a baby furniture store, definitely shop the sales. With such a high mark up, the stores can afford to come down on the price of their baby furniture and baby bedding. Also ask to see the scratched or "less-than-perfect" pieces. A minor scratch is enough to get a large markdown. But the scratch may be on part of the furniture that you’ll never see.

If child furniture stores are so much more expensive, why do people shop at them? First, the quality of the furniture and baby bedding in most of the baby furniture stores surpasses that of the lines department stores carry. You will pay more, but you will get furniture that will last a lifetime, eve with kids around. Another reason is that baby furniture stores have a much larger selection of baby furniture. While a department store may only carry 5 different furniture sets with only 5 different baby bedding sets, a baby furniture store will carry much more.

Quality and selection is what you will get at a furniture store. You’ll pay more for it, but it may be worth it.
