Rear Facing Car Seats

Rear Facing Car Seats For Comfort, Safety And Versatility

Rear facing car seats are a must for newborns. In fact infants should remain in a rear facing car seat until they are at least one year of age, and at least 20 pounds. Car seats in the rear facing position should never be in front of an airbag. Additionally an infant restrained in a car seat facing to the rear are safest in the rear seat of a car, safer still if they are strapped into the middle position of that rear seat.

There are a number of things to look for prior to purchasing a car seat for a newborn. First you may want to research how well the model of car seat you are considering did in crash tests. The restraining harness should be easy for an adult to lock and unlock. If it isn’t the safety of the car seat may be compromised. Your infant’s car seat should be able to be secured snugly with the seat belt of the car. The seat should have no wiggle room once strapped in.

You should expect to spend between $70.00 and $100.00 on a car seat for your newborn. Of course there are some car seats that cost more and even a few that cost less, but that price range is the average. Infant car seats are easy to find as they are sold in discount stores, department stores, web stores, etc. Look for them at Toys R Us, Babies R Us, Walmart, Target, Kohl’s, and Sears among others.
