Babies newborn photography – Get the best photo of your loved one

When it comes to babies newborn photography there are two basic options to choose from: taking the baby to a professional photography studio or taking snapshots yourself. Most parents have photo albums full of both kinds of photographs of their newborn baby. Regardless of the type of newborn photography, there are tips that will make getting pictures taken easier for both parent and baby and result in better photos.

When going to a professional photographer or portrait studio, schedule a time shortly after your baby’s nap. Dress your baby in comfortable clothing and make sure he is fed prior to the photography session, because as any parent knows a hungry baby is rarely a happy baby. Ask the photographer whether they do black and white photos. A newborn baby’s complexion is often uneven making black and white photography more flattering.

When photographing baby yourself, there are several things to keep in mind. One of the most important things to remember when taking snapshots of a newborn is to make sure there is proper lighting, especially around the head to minimize shadowing on the face and hair. Solid light colored clothing and light colored backgrounds work best.

A light colored blanket draped over an infant car seat works well. When photographing a newborn lying down, pictures taken from a 45 or 90 degrees usually turn out best and if the baby is lying on its stomach make sure her face is turned completely to its side. Try using a little baby lotion on any obviously dry patches on your newborn’s face. Black and white photographs are often most flattering for newborn’s with uneven skin tones.
